(2) TEACHERS

Any nation that is serious about becoming great must pay attention to the quality of the education that the citizens are exposed to. One of the reasons why God is committed to this kind of programme is to help you. At this stage of your life, you are a student and in any nation you find out that students are the most populous part of the society. Any nation that does not respect its vast population is not serious about going forward. Don’t mind what politicians talk about the nation, how we want to have a nation like America, how another Obama is going to come in Nigeria and things like that. If the budget doesn’t give a sizable portion to education, that nation is simply playing games with words. Barrack Obama may be a black man, but he’s not a black man in his mind. I’m sure he didn’t go to the kind of school you are going now. Some of the laboratories you are using in your school now are not well equipped; some of the teachers teaching in your schools need to go back to school. Nowadays, I get alarmed about the kind of things I hear; when a student gets bothered and says “I read, I don’t do too well, but all my mates are getting fantastic marks and I asked them how they are doing and they tell me they are paying”. When teachers are collecting money to give students high marks, they are not going to produce any Barrack Obama from that kind of environment. And so, students must begin to take their salvation with their own hands by hearing something that is going to propel them to educate themselves correctly. A nation cannot be better than the mind that the citizens are bringing to bear on solving the problems that confront them. There is a period in your life that it is easy to learn certain things and you are in that period now. You can push yourself wide, right, left, centre, forward and upward in educating yourself now.

One of the attacks of the devil about correct education is laziness in your mind. If there is one thing the devil is attacking this country with, it is to make young people lazy thinkers- lazy in their minds. I don’t think anyone of you here is exerting yourself enough. I believe every one of you here should be registered in a university or higher institution for a course and also register for another course outside somewhere. There is a deception that you are reading too much, there is nothing like that, it is not possible to read too much. Did you listen to Barrack Obama’s speech? Something as fantastic as that happened and most students didn’t watch it. Where were you? That’s part of the problem. You can complain of power supply, that’s interesting, isn’t it? Even if you didn’t watch it, you could have gotten it from the newspaper and read it. Now, that man spoke for 45minutes without looking at the note. That is not a feeble mind. And so the decision to become successful can never be a corporate decision, it has always been and will forever be an individual decision. It cannot be a handed down decision, nobody can take that decision on your behalf when you are not there. It is like the common saying that “you can’t shave somebody’s head behind his back”. Let me tell you this, I don’t know what decision you think you have made but life already knows by some of the choices you have been making before you came here. Whatever decisions you have made, whether for success or for failure, whether for championship lifestyle or average lifestyle, you already have made some decisions. And the law of decision is that decision has consequences. The devil is not afraid of your desires, he’s afraid of your decisions and you have to understand that and until you come to the place of decision, nothing changes in your life. Two things bring changes in your life; accidents and decisions. If you are going to be successful and weighty in life, you cannot allow the bulk of the changes that are taking place in your life to be the result of accidents. Accidents by way of somebody’ else decision, mistakes or positive that just happen to collide with your life and then you are forced to change and all that. But if you are going to make it in life and be weighty in life, your own decision must be provoking the positive changes that you are taking, so by the time you are through with this write up, you must make certain decisions. What you are going to do, what you are not going to do and all that. One man decided when he went to university in America that he wanted to be a first class candidate and decided that he would not befriend anyone that has not decided to be a first class student right before he got admitted into the university. So when he got admitted, he asks “what is your goal?” and anybody that says he just comes around and all that can’t be his friend. He selects friends that have decided to be first class students, so they formed a club and all of them became a first class graduates. That was a result of a decision, all the other people that didn’t make a decision were as brilliant as them but their decisions were not added to their brilliance. It takes more than a dream to win in life and you must add decisions to your dreams. It takes more than desires and passions, so you must have some decisions and as you come here today, decisions must be a part of your life.

Overcoming the Negative Forces in your Environment Part 1

Most times when you see young men and women gather together, they are talking about marriage but that is not our primary focus in this write up. I just want to give you some steps that will help you, but the steps are not going to be useful to you if you don’t decide to do something about them as you must make a deliberate decision to work upon yourself.

One of the things that I had explained in the past is that there are four planks to building a great nation and you need to know them so that you can respond to them or understand what you need to be redeemed from.

Many times, we complained about Nigeria and we think that the government is going to come out of the blues and solve the problem of Nigeria. No, it’s not the work of one man. Let us now look at the four planks.

(1) PARENTS

What parents are, the children will become. Parents are not just to teach their children, they are responsible for bringing spiritual flows that would determine the events and cycles of their lives. That’s why you find some people repeat ancestral problems. If you get married, most likely your spouse will be like his/her father/mother by the time they are fifty. If you look at the mother of the person you want to marry, if no changes occur in the lifestyle of that lady, she will be like the mother at that same age. So, if you don’t like what she is at that age, then you start working some changes. The same goes for the man.

That’s what parents bring to our lives. It’s not their fault and it’s not your fault but knowing about that will enable you to correct some things. For example, if you come from a family that people in your family are obese, they struggle with some disease associated with obesity; you are likely to have inherited such a trait on yourself. If you know early enough, you could begin to prevent yourself from having those diseases by developing different eating habits and things like that. Doctors will understand that sometimes when people have some diseases, they ask them “Do you have anybody in your family that has this kind of a problem?”. This is because some things are passed down family lines.

There are positive things that go down the lines too, like if your parents are singers, you are likely to have inherited something like that from them. If your parents are scientists, there is likely to be some things from them that have come down on you. So, parents are the beginning of the building of a great nation. A nation cannot be greater than the parents that produced the people that populate the nation. So, the devil starts working from there. We have parents that have introduced their children to negative forces, negative spirit, so we are grabbling with that. That’s why you can find somebody that is brilliant in his mind but there is a bad spirit that is using him because he inherited it from his father. Some of the great minds in our country for example, even human right activists and things like that; most of them came from backgrounds that their parents are polygamist. So even though the man is a professor, he is married, he’s about 60/70years, he still keeps two or three concubines. So, nobody talks about what is wrong because everybody has got something wrong in their lives somewhere. And then, the cycle continues but then at a point, God steps in with the gospel of Jesus Christ to give you a different future, a different experience so that you can become another kind of parent because very soon you are going to become parents and it is either you are going to continue the way your natural parents dealt with you or continue with the way God wants you to go on. So, parents are the first and they determine to a large extent what happens in the society.
